Opening Reception - Perception: Ashley Benton, Christopher Lee Gilmer and Eric Varner

On Saturday, May 3rd 2025, Wally Workman Gallery opens Perception, a group show with artists Ashley Benton, Christopher Lee Gilmer and Eric Varner. Using AI as a tool, Christopher Lee Gilmer generates his subjects inspired by string theory and chakra resonance, then uses paint to communicate this unique perception of reality. Ashley Benton explores the merging of the earthly and celestial in her surreal ceramic figures. Eric Varner uses flat color and geometry to play with our senses of perception. Each artist has their unique take on the world and viewing their work is seeing the world through their eyes. As Ashley Benton says, “The work hovers in the in-between- Less than reality, More than a dream”.
